About the Garden

Collecting up seed for Spring

Autumn is a time for collecting up the seed – still on the plants – we have not used in the kitchen over the season. When the seeds have dried on the plant we remove them and strip them from the stalks and collect them up using old tins, buckets and rusted cake tins (which are no longer useful in the kitchen – but just can’t throw out).

Once we are sure the seeds have no remaining moisture we place them into paper bags, label them with name and date and keep them in a cool, dark place until the Spring.
