About the Garden

The joys of a greenhouse

Our greenhouse serves us well especially in winter. As well as keeping our herbs and vegetables baboon-free it also keeps them warm in winter as we do have quite severe winters being at an altitude of 6,500ft above sea level.

I do love the way the beds are raised making it easy to plant, check for insects, weed and pick things when they are at their peak. The beds are made from corrugated iron which was reclaimed and fitted into angle iron frameworks – each at a slight angle to allow efficient drainage. The overhead watering system can be turned on at will to save time and effort in watering each bed separately.

Do you have any tips for greenhouse growing?
